Taxonomy Journal

Video doesn't seem to like being uploaded in the page sections so I'll keep adding them here with notes.
Here's a quick stop-motion of my completed journal...
Check out the Taxonomy/Folksonomy tab for proper updates of the work I've been doing.

And some sketches of Huddersfield

Further to the photographs that I recently took, my project now asks that my class look at different angles and compostions to be drawn of the places of interest.

I have tried to mix up lots of different perspectives to look at my chosen locations with a different eye.

A Study in Shoes....

Here is the Armitage Franks informative cinefilm that was part of my hand in for the Taxonomy and Folksonomy project.

It was created in Photoshop and Flash, with extra effects added in After Effects...

Photos of Huddersfield

My current project is to take pictures of locations that have some relevence to me around town...

The project asks for us to look at differences that can be seen in tone, light and appearance when looking at the same place. I have looked at the contrasts between night and day but also in the change that is brought about when looking at an image in black and white rather than colour.
Some of my examples are below.

St Peters Church

Huddersfield train station

And my front door.

Typography

Just a quick post with a couple of my ideas for my latest Typography project...

And here's my first draft. I am liking the idea of creating an image of my face using only the 50 words that were written about me by a fellow student but realise it can be made much more effective.

And my next draft. I think that this works much better, just needs tidying up and some trials of different palletts to play about with.

Taxonomy

As outlined in the Taxonomy page of my blog, I have been looking at a Victorian twist to the taxonomy of my project, with that in mind I needed a suitible character to become the mouthpiece for my work.

So I introduce to you Sir Armitage Franks...

AND Festival Cont.

Included here are some photos of pieces that particularly caught my eye.

In particular, the work of Heath Bunting on the Status Project, has a relevence to my first project on Taxonomy and Folksonomy, with its detailed plan of human life in the modern age.

Abandon Normal Devices

The first week and the first visit somewhere.
I visited the AND Festival in Manchester, the Festival is displaying different artwork and installations across Manchester, with work from Heath Bunting, Phil Collins, Lawrence Malstaf and many other artists and collaborators.

Much of the work was being displayed in the Cornerhouse, The Manchester Art Gallery and The Cube Gallery, and the work that was being shown was a very varied and diverse selection of pieces from videos concerning Marxism to The Status Project, a huge map of goverment information cataloguing what it can mean to be a human being.

Year 2!

This blog is to be a running example of the work that I produce and the methods that I use while studying in my 2nd Year in Animation at The University of Huddersfield, while also displaying some of the work that I have created already and intend to create in the near future. Enjoy.
